B. Lillian Nelson, 81, a former Stanhope area resident, died early this morning at Bethany Manor in Story City. She had been a resident there for three years.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Bethany Manor with the Rev. Enoch Hall officiating and at 1:30 p.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran church in Stanhope with the Rev. Dwight McElree officiating and with burial in Lawn Hill cemetery near Stanhope.

The body will lie in state at the Foster Funeral home from 7 p.m. Tuesday until 8 a.m. Thursday when the casket will be taken to the church.

B. Lillian Nelson, daughter of Olaf and Hilda Hanson Nelson was born Aug. 18, 1899 at Stanhope. She was reared and educated in Stanhope.

She taught in rural schools for six years.

Miss Nelson attended Iowa State College at Ames, graduating in 1928 with a degree in home economics. She taught at several high schools, returning to Iowa State where she obtained a master's degree in 1938. She taught in several colleges and for 18 years was a professor of home economics at Marietta College, Marietta, Ohio, retiring in 1965.

She continued to live in Marietta until 1968 when she returned to Ames, living there until 1977 when she moved to Bethany Manor.

Survivors include two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Jess (Alice) Wing of Stanhope; C.O. Nelson, Albuquerque, N.M., Mrs. Lyle (Pearl) Nelson of Watertown, S.D., and Palmer Nelson of Stanhope, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; and two sisters who died in infancy.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Our Savior's Lutheran church at Stanhope and was currently a member of the Ascension Lutheran church at Ames.

She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma national sorority.
