Palmer O. Nelson, 72, Stanhope, died Thursday at the Stratford Care Center where he had been a patient for six weeks.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Stanhope with Rev. Lloyd Weiland officiating. Burial was in the Lawn Hill Cemetery. Visitation may be made after 4 p.m. today, until 8 a.m. Saturday.

Palmer Olaf Nelson, son of Olaf and Hilda Hanson Nelson, was born Aug. 7, 1913 at Stanhope, where he was reared and educated. He graduated in 1931.

On April 30, 1937, he married Clara Mae Shatava and the couple resided at Stanhope. He was employed at the grocery store and for many years farmed south of Stanhope. Prior to his retirement, he worked at Farmers State Bank. His wife preceded him in death Jan. 17, 1986.

He is survived by a brother, Clarence Nelson, Albuquerque, N.M.; two sisters, Pearl (Mrs. Lyle) Nelson, Watertown, S.D. and Alice (Mrs. Jesse) Wing, Stanhope.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and three sisters.
