Betty Hill, 67, Stanhope, died Wednesday, Aug. 19, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Christian Church in Stanhope with the Rev. Richard Morris officiating. Burial will be in Lawn Hill Cemetery, southeast of Stanhope. Visitation is after 6 p.m. today at the Foster Funeral Home until 8 a.m. Saturday when the casket will be taken to the church.

Betty Jean Fredericksen [obituary of husband James Hill spelled maiden name as Frederickson], daughter of Christian and Caroline (Clemmonsen) Fredericksen, was born Sept. 9, 1924 at Webster City where she was educated.

On June 16, 1942, she married James K. Hill. The couple farmed in the Stanhope area. She was a homemaker. Her husband died in July of 1991.

She is survived by son, Jeff Hill of Jewell; daughter, Jane Olson of Story City; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Lillian Gage of Webster City; brothers, James of Santa Ana, Calif., Harold of Webster City, Chris of Davenport; and several nieces and nephews. Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by son, James Kenneth Hill III; her parents and one brother and one sister.

She was an active member in many areas of the Christian Church of Stanhope, also serving as an elder.
