Earling H. Hanson, 90, of 3536 Elm Avenue SE, Cedar Rapids, died at Mercy Medical Center Wednesday, July 27, 2005 after a short illness. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Saviors Lutheran Church by the Rev. James Adix. Burial 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Lawn Hill Cemetery in Stanhope with military services. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Survivors include two sons, Norman (Barbara) Hanson of Danville, IL and Franklin Hanson of Cedar Rapids; 13 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry, two brothers, G.M. and Herman and a sister, Inger.

Earling was born September 9, 1914 in Hamilton County to Hans and Elizabeth Hanson. He married Bernice Johnson there on March 14, 1937. She died in May, 2005. He worked for Quaker Oats (in Cedar Rapids) for over 35 years, returning in 1978. Earling was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and an Army veteran of WWII. Earling was an avid Hawkeye fan and in his younger days, he loved to hunt and fish.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Mercy or Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
