Funeral services for Dr. Leo G. Dick, 85, were held Jan. 15th at the United Methodist church, Oakland. Dr. Dick, long-time dentist in Oakland, died at a hospital in Keokuk, Monday. Masonic services were held in charge of Ark Lodge 335.

Burial was at the Lawn Hill cemetery, Stanhope, with graveside services by the Rev. Richard Miller of Stanhope.

Leo G. Dick was born Sept. 6, 1890 at Lake Mills, Iowa, the son of George Horton and Nora Branch Dick, who formerly lived in Stanhope. March 6, 1916 he was married to Ethel Davis of Stanhope, in Des Moines.

Dr. Dick graduated from the University of Iowa in 1914 with a DDS degree. He went to Oakland immediately after graduation and practiced there until the early 1970's.

November of 1961, Dr. Leo Dick and Dr. K.L. Thompson were jointly honored by the community, for over 40 years of practice on the part of each in the community. At that time, Dr. Dick had completed nearly 47 years of practice in Oakland.

Dr. Dick was a noted football player while attending the University of Iowa. He was captain of the team there and an All-American in 1914.

He was a past president of the Iowa Dental Association and a Fellow in the American College of Dentistry. He was a member of the United Methodist church in Oakland and a member of Ark Lodge #335 of the Masons. He was also a District Lecturer in the Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the "I" Club at the University of Iowa and a member of the Lewis and Clark Commission in Iowa.

Dr. Dick was also the recipient of the Silver Beaver Award in the Boy Scouts.

While in practice, he served several years on the Board of Education and the Oakland Town Council. He was a member of the Pottawattamie County Conservation Board.

He is survived by his wife, Ethel, a daughter Shirley both of Keokuk; two brothers, Wayne of Belleville, Ill. and Nelson of Apple Valley, Calif.; a sister Mrs. Mabel Kepler of Iowa Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.
