Roy H. Davis, 91, a lifelong Stanhope resident, died early this morning at the Hamilton County Hospital. He had been in ill health for six months.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Stanhope Christian Church with the Rev. David Burright officiating. Burial will be at the Lawn Hill Cemetery in Stanhope.

Friends may call at the Foster Funeral Home until 8 a.m. Wednesday at which time the casket will be taken to the church.

Roy Harrison Davis, son of Charles and Elizabeth McFarland Davis, was born March 21, 1889 in Hamilton County. He was educated in the rural schools north and east of Stanhope and was united in marriage on December 10, 1913 to Hazel Whalen at the bride's home in Stanhope.

The couple farmed in the Stanhope area until 1945 when they moved to Stanhope. Mr. Davis had also done custom trucking. In 1944 he started working for the Hamilton County Seed Association and was employed there until 1965 when he retired.

He is survived by his wife, also Chester Lawson of Boone, who, for many years, made his home with the Davis family, two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Leo (Ethel) Dick of Keokuk, Mrs. Edgar (Irene) Whalen of Stanhope, Charles Davis of Webster City and Clair Davis of Diamond, Mo., as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by both parents, three brothers and three sisters and was a member of the Christian Church in Stanhope.
