Charles E. Clabaugh, 86, of Stanhope, died Friday evening, Jan. 12, at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames.

Funeral services were held today (Monday, Jan. 15) at 1:30 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church in Stanhope with Rev. Richard Morris officiating. Burial was in Lawn Hill Cemetery southeast of Stanhope.

Charles Estel Clabaugh, son of Willis and Minnie Olson Clabaugh, was born Oct. 14, 1903, on a farm near Kamrar. He attended rural school in that area.

On Feb. 8, 1929 he married Goldie Monson at Boone.

The couple farmed north of Stanhope, before moving to a farm south of Stanhope in 1944. They farmed in the Kamrar area for three years, before moving to their present farm east of Stanhope in 1948.

The couple retired in 1968 and continued to live on their farm.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters and one son, Dorothy (Mrs. Luverne) Jansen of Blairsburg, Donald Clabaugh of Stanhope, Doris (Mrs. Bill) Hayes of Maquoketa, and Diane (Mrs. Ronald) Miller of Shenandoah; eight grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Stanhope and the Stanhope Lions Club.

Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church in Stanhope or to the American Cancer Society.
