Everett E. Arendts, 65, a longtime resident of the Stanhope community, died Wednesday morning at the Hamilton County hospital where he had been a patient the past three weeks.

He has been in ill health since June, 1970.

Funeral services were Friday at the Grace United Methodist Church in Stanhope with the Rev. Robert Winter officiating and burial in the Lawn Hill cemetery at Stanhope. Mr. and Mrs. Mervyn Dick were singers with Mrs. Richard Evans as organist, they sang "Have Thine Own Way, Lord," and "Under His Wings". Pallbearers were his nephews, Obert Arendts, Hollis Dickerson, William East, Maurice Knutson, George Olsen and Lyndell Streebin. Honorary pallbearers were Arthur Arends, Yorke Johnson, Palmer Nelson, Clarence Ober, Jasper Olson, Elmer Snyder, and Jess Wing.

Everett Eldren Arendts, son of Thomas and Martha Urdahl Arendts, was born March 31, 1905 at Kensett, Iowa, where he was reared and educated.

He was united in marriage Aug. 29, 1937 to Edna East, and the couple resided in Kensett where Mr. Arendts worked for the railroad until 1945 when the family moved to a farm north of Stanhope.

He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Rodger (Martha Ann) Arends of Stanhope; two grandchildren, Julie Ann and Curtis; two brothers, Charles Arendts of Des Moines and John Arendts of Cedar Rapids; two sisters Melvina Arendts and Mrs. Fritz (Nora) Schulte, both of Kensett. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.

Mr. Arendts was a member of the Grace United Methodist church in Stanhope.
