Mrs. Virgil (Mary) Anderson, 61, of 714 Park Avenue, died Monday afternoon at the Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. She had been hospitalized the past week and in ill health the past 18 months.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. Roger Miller officiating and with burial in the Lawn Hill cemetery near Stanhope.

Mary Ellena Kendall, daughter of George and Mable Hurley Kendall, was born Sept. 30, 1919 at Littleton, Colo. At the age of 8, she moved with her parents to Jefferson and received her education there.

She was married Sept. 23, 1936 to Rolland Fister, at Jefferson, Iowa, and the couple lived in various locations in the Jefferson community.

To this union, two sons and three daughters were born: Rolland Fister of Norfolk, Neb., Russell Fister of Webster City, Mrs. Jim (Betty) Haga of Scottsville, Va., Mrs. Wallace (Donna) Wildt of Stanhope and Mrs. Charles (Patricia) Heiden of Webster City.

On Sept. 19, 1965, she was married to Virgil A. Anderson and the couple had since resided in Webster City.

Besides her husband, two sons and three daughters, she is also survived by one step-son, Jim V. Anderson of Webster City; 21 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers and one sister, Otha Kendall and Lewis Kendall, both of Jefferson, and Mrs. L.P. (Utha) Hanson of Glen Flora, Wis.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

She was a member of the Church of Christ in Webster City.
