Mrs. Silas (Edna) Welty, 62, a former Williams area resident, died Monday afternoon at Mercy hospital in Des Moines. She had been in ill health the past year and a half.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's catholic church in Williams. Rev. Father J.J. Brickley will officiate and burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery in Williams. The rosary will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Foster Funeral home in Webster City.

Edna Mae Luttrell, daughter of Columbus and Addie Magill Luttrell, was born April 18, 1908 in Peculiar, Mo. When she was a small child, she moved with her parents to Webster City, where she was reared and educated.

She was united in marriage to Silas Welty Nov. 25, 1925, and the couple farmed in the Williams community.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1963, and in 1964 she moved to Des Moines to make her home.

She is survived by one son, Howard Welty of Waukegan, Ill.; one granddaughter, Louise Welty; one brother, Walter Luttrell of Chicago and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by three daughters [Colleen, Darleen, Eileen] who died in infancy [1935]; by her parents, one brother and one sister.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church in Williams.
