Silas Welty Dies Suddenly

Silas F. Welty, 65, widely known Williams farmer, died suddenly Thursday at his home five miles southwest of Williams. His death was attributed to a heart attack.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic church in Williams with Father H.P. Nosbisch officiating and with burial in St. Mary's Catholic cemetery.

Rosary will be at 8 p.m. Sunday at the Foster funeral home.

Silas Francis Welty, son of Howard and Margaret Welty, was born Sept. 29, 1897, on a farm north of Williams and was reared and educated in the Williams community.

He was united in marriage Nov. 25, 1925, to Edna Luttrell. WIth the exception of seven years during which the couple farmed in the Stanhope community, they had always farmed in the Williams area, having lived on the present farm for the past 24 years.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Howard Welty of Des Moines, one granddaughter, Louise Kay Welty; two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Walter Boston of Blairsburg, Susan Welty of Webster City and Howard Welty of Garrison, Minn.

He was preceded in death by triplet daughters [Colleen, Eileen, Darlene in April 1935 - also buried at St. Mary's Cemetery] who died in infancy; by his parents, one sister and one brother.

Mr. Welty was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church in Williams.
