G. STAEBLER DEAD AT 77

Gus Staebler, 77, resident of the Williams community for many years, died at 6:10 Wednesday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles Murphy, at Algona. In ill health for several years, he had lived with his daughter for the past 16 months.

Services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic church in Williams, the Rev. Father F.W. McKinley officiating, and Foster's in charge. Burial will be on the family lot in the Williams Catholic cemetery.

The Rosary will be said Thursday and Friday evenings at 8 o'clock at the home of another daughter, Mrs. Ed Miller, five miles north of Williams.

Gottlieb Staebler, the son of August and Caroline Staebler, was born Dec. 15, 1868, on a farm near Guttenburg. He received his education in that community.

He was married in January, 1892 to Miss Theresa Imholt at Haverhill. After their marriage, they lived for two years at Haverhill, then moving to Williams, where Mr. Staebler was engaged in the carpenter trade for two years. At the end of that time, they moved to Guttenberg where they farmed for several years, then returning to a farm north of Williams where Mrs. Staebler died in 1914.

In 1918 Mr. Staebler moved to the town of Williams, going into the real estate business. He retired several years ago because of poor health.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, his parents, two brothers and four sisters.

He is survived by two sons, John G. Staebler of Madison, Wis., and Frank B. Staebler of Ogden, four daughters, Mrs. Ed Miller of Williams, Mrs. Charlie Murphy of Algona, Mrs. Ralph Valentine of Algona and Mrs. Ed Doyle of Fort Dodge; 22 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Lizzie Luther, of Haverhill.

Mr. Staebler was a life-long member of the Elks club.
