Funeral services for Oscar W. Schweppe, 79, a longtime resident of the Williams community, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Mary's Catholic church in Williams. Rev. Father F.J. McEnany will officiate, with burial in St. Mary's cemetery.

Rosary will be at 8 p.m. Friday at the Foster Funeral home. The body will lie in state at the funeral home from Friday morning until the time of services.

Mr. Schweppe died suddenly Monday morning in California. He had been visiting the past two weeks with his son, Lawrence Schweppe, at Baldwin Park, Calif.

Oscar William Schweppe, son of William and Adele Schweppe, was born Feb. 3, 1887, at Wesley, Iowa. He was reared and educated in the Wesley community.

He was united in marriage June 26, 1911, to Mary Agnes Matz at Wesley and the couple farmed at Wadena, Minn., for several years, then moved to Webster City where they resided for two years. The family then moved to the Williams vicinity where the family had resided for the past 41 years. The couple observed their 50th wedding anniversary in June, 1961.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Oct. 12, 1961; by one son and one daughter, who died in infancy; by one daughter, Agnes, who died at the age of five; by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

He is survived by four sons and two daughters: Lawrence Schweppe, Baldwin Park, Calif., Lee Schweppe, Weathersfield, Conn., Francis Schweppe, Milwaukee, Wis.; Arthur Schweppe, at home in Williams; Mrs. Edward (Eileen) Schuh of Milwaukee, Wis., and Mrs. Harry (Irene) Solberg of Williams.

Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, one brother, Norbert Schweppe of Madison, Wis., and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Schweppe was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church in Williams.
