FUNERAL RITES FOR VETERAN

Pvt. Edward Franklin, 31, Died Friday at Camp Gruber

WILLIAMS - Funeral services were held here Monday morning at the Catholic church for Pvt. Edward Franklin, 31, a veteran of 16 months' service in the Aleutians who died Friday of double pneumonia at an army hospital at Camp Gruber, Okla.

Son of Barbara and Saylor Franklin, Private Franklin had lived all his life in this vicinity until entering the army in 1942. Following his return to the U.S. after his long service in the Aleutian island theater, the Williams serviceman was transferred to Oklahoma.

Private Franklin is survived by his mother and five sisters and four brothers: Mrs. R.C. Dearborn, Mrs. Roy Cummings and Mrs. Fred Anderson, all of Marshalltown, Mrs. Jack Reese of Jewell, Mrs. Fred Caruth of Williams, Leo and Henry Franklin of Marshalltown, Roy Franklin of Monrovia, Cal., and John Franklin of Fort Dodge.

The body was returned here Sunday with a military escort, Sgt. Richard Finn of Boston, Mass., also stationed at Camp Gruber. Burial [the rest of the newspaper clipping is missing - he is buried at St Mary's Cemetery, Williams]
