WILLIAMS MAN DIES AFTER 18 FOOT FALL

Tom Franklin Fatally Injured Saturday When Scaffolding Breaks

WILLIAMS, Iowa, Dec. 2 (Special) - Tom Franklin, a life long resident of Williams, died at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon at Mercy hospital in Webster City, as the result of an 18 foot fall Saturday morning.

Mr. Franklin and Arlee Doyle were building a barn on the Austin farm south of town, tenanted by Henry Reingardt, and in some way the scaffolding on which they were working gave way, both men falling. Mr. Doyle, a nephew of Mr. Franklin, managed to break his fall and made a jump of about 10 feet, escaping uninjured. Mr. Franklin fell through the hay mow and evidently struck his head, causing a fracture of the skull besides other internal injuries.

He was taken to the hospital in Webster City in the Rick ambulance but failed to regain consciousness.

Two sisters and a brother and a number of nieces and nephews survive. The sisters are Mrs. Mary Doyle, of Williams, and Mrs. Nellie Planalp, of Cherokee, and the brother, William Franklin, of this place.

No funeral arrangements have been made.

[he is the son of John & Bridgett Shine Franklin, buried at Saint Mary's Cemetery, Williams, Iowa]
