LaVonne Grove, 92, formerly of Ellsworth, passed away February 7, 2017 at the Zearing Health Care Center in Zearing, Iowa. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 11, at 11:00 a.m. at the United Church of Christ in Jewell with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Jewell.

Marian LaVonne Grove, the daughter of Omer and Bertha (Iverson) Westre, was born August 25, 1924 in Jewell, Iowa. She attended Ellsworth No. 9 country school. On November 14, 1944, she married Merle D. Grove and they made their home north of Ellsworth for nearly 50 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ellsworth and the Iowa Draft Hitch Pony Association. LaVonne resided at the Zearing Health Care Center for over eight years.

LaVonne is survived by her son, Jerri (Beth) Grove of Ellsworth; her daughter, Jo (Gene) Lacher of El Paso, Ill.; four grandchildren, Michael (Julie) Grove, Laura (Josh) Merideth, Donna (Robert) Spoelstra and Lisa Harrison; eight great-grandchildren, Quinton Grove, Landon Grove, Braelynn Merideth, Logan (Krysta) Spoelstra, Hayley Spoelstra, Cole Spoelstra, Maykala Harrison and Andrew Harrison; three great great-grandchildren, Rhett Spoelstra, Mason Harrison and Saddie Harrison; her brother-in-law, Duane (Lois) Grove; her sister-in-law, Bethel Westre; her grandson-in-law, Rodney Dale; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Merle D. Grove; her brother, Eugene Westre; and her granddaughter, Pamela Dale.
