Selmer Roe, 65, a longtime Webster City resident, died Sunday morning at the Hamilton County hospital where he had been a patient the past month and one half. He had been in ill health the past year.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Rose Grove Lutheran church near Williams with the Rev. Olaf Holen officiating and with burial in Calvary cemetery at Webster City. The body will lie in state at the Foster Funeral home until 11 a.m. Wednesday, when it will be taken to the church.

Selmer Roe, son of Ole and Mary Meisland Roe, was born April 8, 1909, in Liberty township. He was reared and educated in the Rose Grove community.

He was married April 8, 1942 to Mary Faulkner, and the couple made their home in Webster City where he was employed by the former Lampert Lumber Co. and later by the Spahn and Rose Co., until his retirement, due to ill health.

His wife preceded him in death in 1973.

He is survived by six brothers and two sisters, Mrs. John (Manda) Varland, Northwood, Iowa; Mrs. Merle (Ruth) Jensen, and Merlin Roe, both of Chatfield, Minn., Clifford Roe of Albert Lea, Minn., Otto Roe of Garden City, Iowa, Kenneth Roe of Ames, Amos Roe and Omer Roe, both of Webster City, and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; three brothers and one sister.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Rose Grove Lutheran church.
