George W. Ringer, 64, longtime Webster City businessman, died Saturday evening at the Hamilton County hospital following a heart attack suffered early in the evening at his home.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist church with the Rev. Robert Snyder officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery where flag-folding ceremonies will be conducted by the American Legion Post 191.

Friends may call at the Foster Funeral home until 10 a.m. Tuesday.

George William Ringer, son of Francis Monroe and Josie Effie Williams Ringer, was born Nov. 5, 1916 at Webster City. He was reared and educated in the Webster City schools and graduated in 1934. He attended Webster City Junior college.

He was married Dec. 12, 1941 to Betty M. Best and the couple had since made their home in this city.

He entered the U.S. Navy and was stationed for 22 months at Londonderry, Ireland, after which he served in the Pacific war theatre.

Following his discharge, he returned to Webster City where he was employed in the Wilhelm Brass and Aluminum Foundry. He assumed ownership of the company in 1959 and had since operated that firm.

He is survived by his wife; one son and one daughter, Jon M. Ringer of Morris, Ill., and Mrs. William (Diane) Evans of Clarion; three grandchildren, Matthew Evans and Melissa Evans and Gina Ringer; one sister, Mrs. R.A. (Elsie) Patterson of Webster City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Mrs. Dean (Hermione) Prang.

He attended the First Baptist church in Webster City. He was a member of the American Legion Post and the Webster City Country club.
