Berdene Phillips, 87, Webster City, died Sunday, March 14, 1999 at the Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Community Church of Kamrar with Rev. Craig Bex and Rev. David Beals officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Foster Funeral Home and prior to the services at the church on Thursday.

Berdene Klooster, daughter of Antoni and Berendtje Dreyer Klooster, was born Feb. 8, 1912 on a farm near Webster City. She was educated in rural schools and the Webster City School System. She married Leland H. Phillips on July 18, 1931. He preceded her in death on April 6, 1981. The couple had farmed in southern Iowa until 1940 when they moved to a farm in the Webster City area. They farmed in the Webster City and Blairsburg areas until retiring in 1966. They moved to Webster City.

Survivors are sons and daughters-in-law, David and Evonne Phillips, Williams, and Phillip and Kathy Phillips of Marshfield, WI, one daughter, Joyce Miller of Slater; two sisters, Ann Schweppe of Kamrar and Eppie Frette of Webster City; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret St. John and Antionette Kunkel, and one brother, John Klooster.
