E.C. Pilchard Dies at 67 At Hospital

Had Farmed in Webster City Community for Past 43 Years

E. C. Pilchard, 67, longtime Webster City resident, died at 9:45 p.m. last evening at the Hamilton county hospital. He had been in failing health since early in March, but had been hospitalized only one day.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Foster funeral home with the Rev. J. A. Farnham officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery.

Ervin Cloyd Pilchard, son of Cyrus and Eunice [Walker] Pilchard, was born Dec. 17, 1884, on a farm near Olney, Ill. When he was two years old, his family moved to a farm near Mansfield, Ill., and he was reared and educated in that community.

He was united in marriage Sept. 9, 1909 at Bloomington, Ill., to Miss Della Peck, coming to Iowa shortly after their marriage. They located on a farm on the southwest edge of Webster City and had farmed in this community since then.

Mr. Pilchard is survived by his wife, one son, Edgar P. Pilchard of Webster City; two grandchildren, Robert Jerald and Linda Sue Pilchard. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Phillip Harvey and Charles Walter.

Mr. Pilchard was baptized in the Methodist faith and a member of the Methodist church here in Webster City.

A steady, industrious man, Mr. Pilchard was always keenly interested in agriculture and community activities. His home and his family were his main interests in life.
