Cyrus Rozell Pilchard was born near Pomeroy, Ohio, Nov. 3, 1857. He was united in marriage to Miss Eunice Walker, May 17, 1882, at Olney, Ill. January, 1885, they moved to Mansfield, Ill., where they made their home until February, 1909, when they came to Webster City, living on the Frank farm.
March 1, 1920, he retired from active work and moved to 944 Water street, Webster City. August 19, 1919, Mrs. Pilchard was called to her eternal home.
To this union God gave three sons. They are: Philip Harvey, of Denver; Ervin Cloyd, of this city, and Charles Walter, of Long Beach, Calif. There are nine grandchildren, one brother, M.H. Pilchard, of Werdman, Ill., one sister, Mrs. Lina de Groft, of Hardin, Mo.
Dec. 25, 1923, Mr. Pilchard was married to Mrs. Jennie Arnold, of Manchester, Iowa.
Mr. Pilchard was united with the Methodist church and was very loyal to the church and faithful to his Lord and Master. He lived a quiet and unassuming but very useful life. He was held in high esteem by his friends and neighbors and was known for his integrity and high standard of morals. The community joins with his family in mourning.
Mr. Pilchard was only sick a few hours and on Saturday noon, March 5, he was called to the higher life where there is no hurts or pains but where all is joy and blessings.
