Daily Freeman Journal, Webster City, Iowa, Saturday, August 23, 1919

Eunice Walker was born near Olney, Illinois, February 7, 1860. She lived and grew to womanhood in the same vicinity. Her childhood and youth passed without remarkable incident. May 17, 1882, she was married to Cyrus R. Pilchard and settled where she was reared. In 1887 Mr. and Mrs. Pilchard moved to Mansfield, Illinois, where they continued to reside for 22 years. In 1900 they took up their residence in Webster City, where they had since made their home. Their family consists of three sons: Philip Harvey, of Sioux City; Ervin Cloyd, of Webster City; Charles Walter of Portland, Oregon.

Mrs. Pilchard had not enjoyed good health for many years. She outlived the expectation of those who were acquainted with her condition. About a year and a half ago she had a stroke of paralysis which complicated her condition still more and left her partially helpless. Her family spared no pains to minister to her comfort, but she grew increasingly helpless to the end. With assistance she was able to sit in her chair till within three days of her death. She passed away Tuesday afternoon, August 19, 1919, aged 59 years. She is survived by her husband and three sons, also four sisters and two brothers. The funeral services were held at the residence at the south end of Willson avenue in charge of the pastor of the Methodist church of which she had been a member for many years. Interment took place at Graceland cemetery, Webster City.

Owing to her condition of health, Mrs. Pilchard was not able to mingle as freely as she would have liked with acquaintances. But those who were privileged to know her more intimately bear witness to the grace of her character. She was a true wife and a devoted mother.
