George Ely, 51, former resident of Webster City and a son of Mrs. Edna Ely of this city, died at 3 p.m. Monday at his home in Des Moines. He had been in ill health for several years.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Foster funeral home with the Rev. J.L. Neighbours officiating. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery.

George Ely, son of John and Edna Ely, was born Dec. 24, 1907, at Webster City and was educated in the Webster City schools.

He was united in marriage Feb. 24, 1927, to Miss Bernadine Clifton. Mr. and Mrs. Ely made their home in Webster City where he engaged in farming and the implement business. They later made their home at Arnold's Park, Lake Okoboji, and at Clear Lake. For the past several years they had resided in Des Moines where Mr. Ely had been serving as sales representative for the Walker Food Co.

He is survived by his wife; his mother, Mrs. Edna Ely; one brother, Robert Ely, of Des Moines, two sisters, Mrs. O. H. (Irene) Kaberle of Des Moines, and Miss Ruth Ely of Chicago.

He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Franklin, who died in infancy.
