Roland (Rollie) Spannaus, 45, Stanhope, died Aug. 21, 1995, at the Hamilton County Public Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Foster Funeral Home, with Dr. Jeff Palmer officiating. Burial will be at the Saratoga Cemetery, northwest of Stanhope. Visitation will be at the funeral home one hour before the time of service.
Roland LeRoy Spannaus was born June 14, 1950, in St. Paul, Minn. He graduated from Washington High School in St. Paul in 1968. He attended the University of Minnesota for one year. On Dec. 27, 1975, he married Miriam Dick in Stanhope. The couple resided in St. Paul, Minn., and he was employed at Browning Ferris. In 1977, they moved to Webster City, where he was employed at Clement Auto as a mechanic in Fort Dodge. His wife died in July of 1987. On June 24, 1990, he married Barbara Call Yungclas in Stanhope. The couple farmed south of Stanhope.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Spannaus, Stanhope; daughter Molly Spannaus, Stanhope; step-daughters Allison Yungclas, Jena Yungclas, Lara Yungclas, all of Stanhope; mother Jean Spannaus, St. Paul, Minn.; sister Donna Spannaus Martin, Germantown, Tenn., father Roy Spannaus, St. Paul, Minn. In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by sister Evelyn Spannaus.
Mr. Spannaus was a member of the Congregational-U.C.C. Church, the Stanhope Lion's Club and Hamilton County Pork Producers.
