JEWELL - Funeral services for Gerald O. Blake, 86, longtime Jewell attorney, were held at 1:30 p.m. today at the Becker Funeral home with the Rev. Ken Moeckl officiating. Burial was made at Graceland cemetery in Webster City.

Mr. Blake died Friday at Mary Greeley hospital in Ames where he had been a patient for three weeks.

Gerald O. Blake was born April 8, 1890, at Jewell, the son of James M. and Minnie Brown Blake.

He was married to Gertrude Levey on May 14, 1925, at Des Moines. He resided at Webster City for 10 years and four years at Lexington, Mo., but had since resided at Jewell.

He had practiced law for 54 years.

He attended the Wentworth Military Academy, the Drake University Law school and served as an assistant to the Iowa attorney general for six years.

Mr. Blake was a past mayor of Jewell and was a member of the American Legion, being a veteran of World War I.

He is survived by his wife.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
