RITES MONDAY FOR PIONEER

Mrs. William Morrison, 85, Died Saturday at Cherokee.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. for Mrs. William Morrison of this city, 85, who died Saturday morning at the hospital in Cherokee, where she had been a patient since October, 1942.

The Rev. J. J. Share will officiate in the services at the Foster funeral home, burial in Graceland cemetery. It has been requested that no flowers be sent.

The former Nellie M. Ripley, daughter of George and Julia Ripley, was born April 30, 1868 at Richland Center, Wis. When she was eight years of age she came to Webster City with her grandparents, Robert and Maria Aken.

Several years later, having completed her work in the common schools here, she moved with her parents to Dell Rapids, S.D. There she taught school for several years and later was graduated from a business course at Sioux Falls, S.D. She was employed for a time then as stenographer in a lawyer's office. For a while she traveled in California, the southern states and Canada.

Oct. 27, 1926 she was married to William Morrison of Webster City and they moved to California where they made their home for several years, returning later to this city where they had since lived.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Morrison is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Harrison of this city and Mrs. Maude Mack of Arizona. Her parents preceded her in death.

A broadminded woman, Mrs. Morrison was always kind to friends and helped many to succeed. She studied the Bible and believed in a higher and better life.

[cannot find her headstone at Graceland Cemetery to confirm when she was born - she would only be 75 years of age according to the obituary]
