Richard W. (Dick) McCollough, 50, died this morning at the Hamilton County hospital following an illness of several years.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. S.W. Cunningham officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery where military services will be held.
Richard William McCollough, son of George and Ethel Mabbott McCollough, was born Oct. 30, 1917, at Webster City. He was graduated from Webster City high school in 1935 and attended Webster City Junior college for one year.
He entered the U.S. Navy in December, 1936, serving for four years as Navy seaman, first class. He entered the Coast Guard in May, 1942, and served three and one-half years as a yeoman, second class, seeing service in Alaska, at Dutch Harbor and at Vicksburg, Miss. While he was in the Coast Guard at Vicksburg, he was united in marriage Dec. 18, 1942, to Tillie Platzer, and to this union one daughter was born, Mrs. Claude (Sandra) Coley of Vicksburg.
After his discharge from the service, he returned to Webster City where he engaged in farming with his father.
He was united in marriage Sept. 29, 1946, to Estelle Virginia Hayes, and to this union four children were born: Lynda Louise, Debra Jean, Dennis William and Mona Ann McCollough, all of Webster City.
Besides the five children, he is survived by two grandchildren; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George W. McCollough, and two sisters, Mrs. Lloyd (Margaret) Genschmer of Webster City and Mrs. Richard (Barbara) Talcott, Greeley, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his mother and one brother, Robert.
Mr. McCollough was a member of the Methodist church and the American Legion.
