George F. Dickerson, 79, longtime resident of Webster City, died at 7 p.m. Thursday at the University hospital in Iowa City where he had been a patient the past month. He had been in failing health since May.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Foster funeral home with the Rev. Paul Heath officiating and with burial in the Cass Center cemetery.

George Franklin Dickerson, son of Franklin and Emily Dickerson, was born Sept. 21, 1883, on a farm near Harris, Mo. He was reared and educated in that community.

He was united in marriage in 1904 to Alma Holt and to this union two sons were born: Farrell and Darrell Dickerson. His wife preceded him in death in 1906.

He was married June 10, 1909, to Anna Lena Hardman, and to this union four daughters and five sons were born: Millard Dickerson and Carl Dickerson, both of McCallsburg, Iowa, John Dickerson, Story City, Mrs. Milton (Helen) Camperud, Omaha; and three daughters and two sons who preceded him in death.

In 1943, Mr. Dickerson moved to Webster City. He was married Sept. 2, 1945, to Anna Whiton Crose, and the couple had since resided in Webster City.

He was preceded in death by his wife April 10, 1961; by five children, his parents; four brothers and one sister.

Besides the five sons and one daughter, he is survived by two step-sons, Dennis Crose of Des Moines and Estelle Crose of Webster City, 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Dickerson was a member of the Methodist church and the Moose lodge.
