Loren Hoelscher, 81, Williams, died on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001 at Metropolitan Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Williams with burial at the Williams Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the church where the family will be present. Surls Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Loren Hoelscher was born Jan. 29, 1920 in Hubbard, Iowa, the son of Henry and Ethel (Norton) Hoelscher. He attended country school near Hubbard and Eldora town school. He was married to Fern Duden on Jan. 20, 1941 in Princeton, MO. He farmed, was owner and contractor of Hoelscher Construction and engineer at Hoelscher Ag.
He is survived by his wife Fern, four daughters and sons-in-law, Lorna Nassichuk and husband Walter, Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Kathryn Sutherlund and husband Glenn, Mariposa, CA, Karen Johnson and husband Charles, Belle Plaine, and Colette Mickelson and husband Steven, Kelley, IA; five sons and daughters-in-law Lurlin and wife Connie, son Carroll, Loren D. and wife Virginia, Mark and wife Margaret, all of Williams, John and wife Joan, Farmington Mills, MI; 25 grandchildren; a brother Kenneth, Popejoy; a sister Shirley Meyer, Rancho Cucamonga, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Douglas A. in 1977; and three brothers Bernard, Merlin and Bernell.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Williams, a member of the Elk's Lodge B P O E # 1674 of Iowa Falls for 26 years. He enjoyed bowling and spending time with his grandchildren.
