Harold W. Brighton, 58, of Ankeny, a former Williams resident, died Thursday evening at the Iowa Lutheran hospital in Des Moines following a lengthy illness.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today at the Our Lady's Immaculate Heart Catholic church in Ankeny with burial in the Williams cemetery.

Harold W. Brighton, son of John and Hettie Brighton, was born at Williams, but he and his family had lived in Ankeny the past 16 years.

Surviving are his wife, Bernice; three daughters, Veronica Brighton, Dubuque; Rosemary Brighton, Mt. Pleasant, Texas, and Margaret Brighton, Minneapolis; three sons, Bill Brighton of West Des Moines, John and Steven Brighton, both of Fort Hood, Texas; three grandchildren; four sisters, Elsie Denger, Dows; Irene Hamilton, Mason City, Dorothy Weaver, Fairbank; Philis Bird, Oak Ridge, N.C., and one brother, Donald Brighton, Oak Ridge.

He was a member of Our Lady's Immaculate Heart church.

Mr. Brighton was employed as a mechanic for the Ankeny school district.
