L.E. LUBBERS DIES AT HOME

Was Taken Ill Suddenly Sunday and Grew Worse Each Day; Was Nearly 50 Years Old.

LIVED HERE 18 YEARS

His Wife and Four Children, All of This City, Survive

Lubbert E. Lubbers, 50, a resident of this community for the last 18 years, died at his home, 204 Des Moines street, at 5:25 o'clock this morning. He had been taken ill suddenly Sunday, and grew worse daily.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Foster's, opposite the post office, with Dr. G.F. Hull, of Des Moines, an elder of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ, in charge. Burial will be made in Graceland cemetery.

Mr. Lubbers would have been 50 years old next month. He was born in Piatt county, Ill., and, with the exception of eight months spent in Minnesota, always made his home in either Illinois or Iowa.

In 1901 Mr. Lubbers and Miss Wendelena Remmers were married in Cisco, Ill. To them were born five children, a little girl dying in infancy. Those who, with their mother, survive are: Mrs. J.E. Slocum, Clifford, Verne and Elston, all of this city. Two Brothers, Eike Lubbers, of Northwood, Minn.; and Reent Lubbers, of Chicago; four sisters, Mrs. Ella Huisinga, of Jewell, Ill., Mrs. Herman Onken, of Webster City, Mrs. Fannie Remmers, of Illinois, and Mrs. Herman Brunse, of Greenup, Ill., and two half brothers, Sweeter and Otto Lubbers, of Deland, Ill., also survive. Likewise there are two grandchildren, daughters of Dr. and Mrs. J.E. Slocum. Mr. Lubbers was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ.

The family moved to this city from a farm about 10 years ago. Mr. Lubbers was in the implement business here for a time, and recently had been operating a truck line. He was widely known throughout the county, and his death will come as a shock to many friends.

Mr. Lubbers was a good neighbor, always kindly, generous and accommodating. He was a true and loving husband and father. His family was his greatest joy in life and his children and grandchildren were always a source of much pleasure to him. He was happiest in his home, surrounded by his own family and the two little granddaughters for whom he held a great affection. He was respected and held in high esteem by a host of friends, all of whom sympathize deeply with the family in this hour of great sorrow.
