Sterling F. McKee, 86, Webster City

Sterling F. McKee, 86, of Webster City, died Monday, July 4, 2005 at Crestview Senior Living. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the First Congregational - U C C, with Rev. Howard Hunt officiating. Burial will be prior to the memorial service at Graceland Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post # 191. Arrangements were made with the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center.

Sterling Fenton McKee, son of Maynard Fenton and Margaret Irene Sterling McKee, was born September 14, 1918 at Webster city. He graduated from Lincoln High at Webster City in 1936. He also attended the University of Iowa. During W W II, he served with the U.S. Army. His first enlistment as a personnel clerk, his second enlistment was in the Army Corps of Engineers as a captain, in the European Theatre of Action. Following his discharge, he returned to Webster City and started farming with his father. On May 28, 1942, he married Evelyn Faye Strader at Cheyenne, WY. The couple resided at Webster City. In 1959, they moved to the family farm, north of Webster City. They retired to Webster City in 1986. Mrs. McKee died June 17, 2002. He moved to Crestview Senior Living in October of 2000.

Mr. McKee is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Cindi McKee of Blaine, MN, daughter, Beth Primrose of Cedar Falls; grandchildren, Peggy and Clark Taylor of Plymouth, MN, Polly and Brad Jacobson of Cedar Falls, Tracy and Doug Alagna of Augusta, GA, Malissa and Nate Bensen of Sioux Falls, SD; Mitchell McKee of Cottonwood, MN, Morgan McKee of Kimball, MN, great-grandchildren, Sawyer and Conner Jacobson, Lauren Taylor, Brenna Alagna, several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by son-in-law, Dean Primrose in 2002, his parents, brother, Harry McKee, nephews, Maynard and Matthew McKee.

He was a fourth generation member of the First Congregational - U.C.C. and had held various church offices, he was a 50 year member of the American Legion Post #191, a member of the Acacia Masonic Lodge # 176 A F and A M, a past president of the Community Cooperative, and a member of the United Cooperative.

Memorials may be given to the First Congregational - United Church of Christ.
