Walter Denekas dies Monday

Walter Denekas, 76, Jewell, died Nov. 17 at Story City Hospital.

Services are Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Federated United Church of Christ, Jewell, with the Rev. Tom Rehling officiating. Burial is in Evergreen Cemetery, Jewell.

Mr. Denekas was born March 7, 1899 northwest of Kamrar. He and Myrtle Stout were married April 2, 1923 in Jewell. They farmed 43 years northeast of Jewell. They retired in March 1964.

Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Esther Fish, Charles City; Mrs. Marjorie Bessman, Alden; Mrs. Wanda Roney, Jewell; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; three brothers, Leo and Robert, Jewell and Martin, R.R. 1 and six sisters, Mrs. Grace Coffman, Story City; Mrs. Dena Freyberger, Logootee, Ind.; Mrs. Jennie Swenson, Story City; Mrs. Edith Jacobson, Ames; Mrs. Marie Hefland, Radcliffe and Mrs. Edna Hegland, Stanhope.

The body will lie in state at the Becker Funeral Home, Jewell, until 1 p.m. Wednesday.
