Mary Kesler Wilcox, 83, Webster City, died Wednesday, June 14, 2000 at the Crestview Manor Care Center in Webster City. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the First Congregational Church in Webster City with Rev. James Buffington officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral Home from 5-9 p.m. Friday and at the church after noon on Saturday, prior to the service.

Mary Louise Strasser, daughter of Joseph and May Landon Strasser, was born Sept. 17, 1916 in Des Moines. She graduated from Des Moines North High School in 1933. She attended the Specialty Business University in Des Moines. She was employed at Gibbs-Cook Equipment Company where she met her husband, Frederick Layne Kesler. On Oct. 12, 1941, they were married at Des Moines. The couple resided in Des Moines. Following Mr. Kesler's discharge from the U.S. Army, the couple started farming south of Webster City. Mr. Kesler died on Dec. 29, 1965. She served as Hamilton County auditor from 1961 to 1980. On Sept. 13, 1980, she married Wesley D. Wilcox at Webster City. The couple resided at Webster City. She had been a resident of Crestview Manor since March of 2000.

Survivors are her husband, Wesley D. Wilcox, a son and daughter-in-law, Ted and Josie Kesler, Houston, Texas, daughter Patricia Kesler of LeMars; grandchildren, Layne Kesler and wife Kari, Dawn Kesler, Kathryn Kesler, Chris and Carrie Kesler, four nephews and two nieces, daughters-in-law, Elizabeth Weieneth, Webster City, and Cheryl McCleary of Dillon, Colo,; step-son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Darla Wilcox of Stratford, step-daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Jerry Yochum, Delafield, Wis.; step-grandchildren, Brenda Formanek, Brian, Benny and Bruce Wilcox, Jeff Yochum and Tracy Yochum; 10 step-great-grandchildren; brother, Joseph Strasser, Des Moines, brother-in-law, J. Quentin Ogden, Pryor, OK.

In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by sons Joe Kesler in 1977, Thomas Kesler in 1988, her parents and sister, Patricia Ogden.

Mrs. Wilcox was a member of the First Congregational Church, the Iowa Democratic Party, Business and Professional Women, the Order of Eastern Star and the Hamilton County Board of Health.
