Marie Rude, age 59, of Ellsworth, died Wednesday, July 21, 2004 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines. Memorial services are 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 23, 2004 at Becker Funeral Home in Jewell.

Marie Velma Rude was born September 17, 1944 in Alden to Edward John and Velma Marie (Claude) Wilmer. When she was five, the family moved to Pilot Mound. Marie graduated from Boxholm High School in 1963. She attended Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny. On October 30, 1965 Marie married Leo Rude at the Riverside Bible Camp Parsonage. They have lived in Ellsworth for 35 years. Marie worked at Iowa State University and raised research animals for the National Animal Disease Center.

Marie is survived by her husband, Leo Rude of Ellsworth; two sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Cathi Rude of Ames and Brad and Brenda Rude of Gilbert, Arizona; four grandchildren, Brandan, Jasmine, Jonathan and Abigail; and her mother, Velma Wilmer of Jewell. She was preceded in death by her father.
