Mrs. Harry (Mabel) Claude, 74, longtime Jewell resident, died Thursday afternoon at Mary Greeley hospital in Ames where she had been a patient the past two weeks.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. Norbert Jolivette officiating and with burial in the French cemetery near Woolstock.

Mabel Grace Mourlam, daughter of Joseph and Emma Kastler Mourlam, was born Dec. 7, 1900, near Woolstock. She was reared and educated in that community.

She was united in marriage March 8, 1922, at Webster City, to Harry Claude, and the couple farmed in Wright county, but for the past 37 years had farmed in the Jewell community.

She is survived by her husband and six daughters, Mrs. Edward (Velma) Wilmer of Jewell, Mrs. Henry (Arlene) Sandve of Collins, Iowa, Mrs. Arend (Betty) Jansen of Webster City, Mrs. George (Donna) Jacobson, Sauk Centre, Minn., Mrs. Merrill (Lorraine) Hinderks, Jewell, Mrs. Robert (Carolyn) Briggs of Westminster, Colo., 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother and five sisters, Mrs. Harold (Nellie) Thompson, Clarion, Louis Mourlam, Webster City, Edna Mourlam and Ethel Mourlam, both of Woolstock, Mrs. Carl (Florence) Heck, Dodge Center, Minn., Mrs. Gerald( Hazel) Ratcliff, Webster City, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one son, Delbert; a daughter, Mrs. Albert (Viola) Matson, her parents, two great-grandchildren, one brother and one sister, who died in infancy.
