Evelyn Marie Herbert, 90, of Des Moines, Iowa, and formerly of Iowa Falls, Iowa passed away Monday, February 8, 2016 at the Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Private funeral services were held with the Bethel Baptist Church at the Linn's Funeral Home Chapel in Iowa Falls. Burial was held at the Northlawn Cemetery in Iowa Falls.

Evelyn Marie Herbert, 90, of Des Moines, Iowa, and formerly of Iowa Falls, Iowa passed away Monday, February 8, 2016 at the Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Evelyn Marie Spohr was born in Kansas City, Missouri to Clyde and Edith Ettie [Horner] Spohr on April 15, 1925. She had one sister and one brother. She graduated from Abe Lincoln High, in Des Moines, Iowa in 1943. After graduating she worked as a teletype operator for Western Union. She got to work in many places here: Des Moines; Chicago, Illinois; Portland Oregon; and in California before she was married. She married Faye Albert Herbert on January 4, 1946 in Albert Lee, Minnesota. She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church, in Iowa Falls, Iowa.

Evelyn Marie Herbert was preceded in death by her parents: Clyde and Edith Ettie Spohr; her husband: Faye Herbert; two sons: Thomas Lee Herbert and Ronald Dean Herbert; her sisters and brothers: Dorothy Hayes and Earl and Ira Spohr; 2 grandchildren: Charity Kay and Daniel Lloyd O’Neal. She was survived by two daughters: Sandra Kay Grimm of Des Moines, Iowa, and Susan Edith Hansen of Dexter, Iowa; four grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren; and 2 step-great-great-grandchildren.
