Shirley Beth Tesdall, 92, of Jewell died Jan. 8, 2016, at Bethany Manor in Story City. A Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell. Visitation from 3 to 5 p.m. at Bethany Manor Chapel on Sunday, Jan. 10.

Shirley was born in Jewell on April 26, 1923, to Willie and Isaphene (Dawson) Chalma. She graduated in 1941 from Randall High School. She married Abel John Tesdall on Sept. 20, 1941, in Seattle, Wash. He passed away on April 27, 2013. Shirley was a certified parish secretary at Bethesda Lutheran Church for many years.

Shirley is survived by her children, Janis (John) Heeren, of Jewell, Patricia (JR) Reynolds, of Riverdale, Ga., Greg (Ruthann) Tesdall, of Kearney, Neb., Marian (Rich) Olive, of Story City, and Julie (David) Lutjen, of Jewell; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren and one sister, Doris (John) Brock, of Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Marian and her husband, Abel.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in her name. Giving in death as in life, Shirley donated her body to Des Moines University.Soderstrum-Reimers Funeral Home in Jewell assisted the family with arrangements. Condolences and photos may be shared at www.soderstrumreim ers.com.
