Edith June Butler, 83, of Steamboat Rock, Iowa, died December 14, 2015 at the Scenic Manor in the Scenic Living Communities in Iowa Falls. Funeral services for Edith Butler will be 1:30 pm Friday, December 18, 2015 at the Baptist Church, in Steamboat Rock. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Edith June Butler, 83, of Steamboat Rock, Iowa, passed away December 14, 2015 at the Scenic Manor in the Scenic Living Communities in Iowa Falls. Funeral services for Edith Butler will be 1:30 pm Friday, December 18, 2015 at the Baptist Church, in Steamboat Rock. A time of visitation will be 2 hours prior from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm, also at the Baptist Church in Steamboat Rock. Burial will be at the Jackson Township [Berlin] Cemetery, Owasa, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the family, c/o Linn’s Funeral Home, 1521 Washington Ave., Iowa Falls, Iowa 50126. The family will be dividing these memorials between three organizations: the Far East Broadcasting; Alzheimer’s Association; and Cedarville University.

Edith June Reimes was born June 17, 1932 at her parents’ home in Hoard Community, Wisconsin. She was the daughter of Harvey John and Ruby May [Wolfert] Reimes. She attended Banner Country School and Oostburg High School, graduating in 1950. She went on to Iowa State College (ISC) (now known as Iowa State University) where she graduated in 1954 with her degree in Home Economics Education. Her senior year she played in the ISC Concert Band. On June 24, 1955 she was united in marriage to George Arthur Butler in Hingham, Wisconsin at the Reformed Church. Edith Butler was a long time member of both the Eldora Baptist church and the Steamboat Rock Baptist Church. She spent most of her life as a home maker, with plenty of experiences to go with it, including teaching piano, being a teacher of Vocational Homemaking, a seamstress, exhibiting at the Dairy Cattle Congress, the Hardin County Fair, and the Iowa State Fair. She also loved going to auctions and going antiquing. Because of these she became an antique dealer, and collected many dishes and glassware.

Edith June Butler is survived by her husband: George Arthur Butler of Steamboat Rock, Iowa; 4 daughters: Vicki Butler of Cincinnati, Ohio, Laurie Butler of Des Moines, Iowa, Luann Mothershead of Valencia, California, and Julie Butler of Pontiac, Michigan; and 2 grandchildren: Daniel Mothershead and Amanda [Jon] Popadics. She was preceded in death by her parents Harvey John and Ruby May Reimes; and Grandma Wolfert.
