Edward Busing, 65, Stanhope, died June 12, 1995 at the Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Foster Funeral home, with Rev. Scott Hedegaard officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post No. 191. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Foster Funeral home until the time of service. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Edward Ernest Busing, son of Leonard and Jennie Beshey Busing, was born August 3, 1929, in Denver, Colo. At the age of three, he moved with his mother to Webster City and then to Stanhope. He graduated from Stanhope High School in 1947 and also attended Iowa State University. From 1948 to 1949, he served in the U.S. Army. On April 23, 1950 he married Rachel L. Van Langen in Kamrar. The couple resided in Stanhope, where he was employed at the Satre Hardware Store. From 1950 to 1951, he served with the U.S. Army Infantry during the Korean War. After his discharge, he returned to Stanhope and returned to work at Satre Hardware. For several years he was a Carnation milk distributor. In 1960, he was elected to the Hamilton County Board of Supervisors, where he served for two years. He served in the House of Representatives for one term. In 1964, he started Traffic Marketing Services, which he operated until his time of death.

He is survived by his wife, Rachel Busing, Stanhope; daughters, Delayne M. Johnson; Janise A. Green, both of West Des Moines; Jody J. Busing, Des Moines; son, Edward E. Busing, Jr., Stanhope, grandchildren, Matt Johnson; Jacob Johnson; Jenna Green; Johnathan Busing; Blaise Busing; sisters, Leola McClure; Dorothy Drake, both of LaFeria, Texas; step-father, Herman T. Satre, Webster City; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Busing was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Stanhope. He was past president of Stanhope Lion's Club. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 439 of LaFeria, Texas.
