Funeral services for Guy R. Fowler, 76, widely known Webster City resident, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Foster Funeral home with Elder Lee Abramson of Cherokee and Elder Milo Burnett officiating. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery.

Mr. Fowler died Wednesday morning at the Hamilton county hospital following an illness of the past two months.

Guy Raymond Fowler, son of John and Melissa [VonNieda] Fowler, was born Oct. 18, 1890, at Rockwell City, Iowa. When he was four years old, he moved with his parents to a farm near Blairsburg. He was reared and educated in the Blairsburg community.

He was united in marriage Jan. 1, 1914 to Ina Rhyan. The couple farmed near Blairsburg until 1927 when they moved into Webster City. For 26 years, Mr. Fowler owned and operated the former Super Maid cafe in the 500 block on Second St. He later purchased the King's Kourt trailer court he operated for five years. For the past several years he had been retired.

Mr. Fowler is survived by his wife and four daughters: Mrs. Elston (Dorothea) Lubbers, Webster City, Mrs. H. W. (Arline) Cackler, Independence, Mo., Mrs. Warren E. (Beulah) Kelly, Fort Dodge, and Mrs. James K. (Belva) Van Fleet of Springfield, Mo.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Roy Fowler of Blairsburg and Merle Fowler of Iowa City.

Mr. Fowler was preceded in death by his parents.

He was one of the eldest members of the Webster City Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The church was started here as a mission in 1925 and met for 13 years in the Fowler home over the cafe. Mr. Fowler was ordained as an elder in 1934 and served the church as pastor for a total of 26 1/2 years after the church was organized as a branch. He was instrumental in planning the new RLDS building erected in 1965 in Southfield Heights and presided at the groundbreaking ceremonies.

In addition to his church work, he was chairman of the Hamilton County Red Cross chapter for three years; a member of the Chamber of Commerce and a former campaign chairman for the Cancer Crusade.
