Genevieve Kuhfus, 84, Ellsworth, died Friday, July 30, 1998 at the Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services were held Monday morning at the United Methodist Church in Ellsworth. Burial is in the Homewood Cemetery in Ellsworth. The Boeke Funeral Home in Radcliffe was in charge of arrangements.

Genevieve Hendrickson, daughter of Milton and Minnie (Brinkmeyer) Hendrickson, was born Feb. 23, 1914 in Rose Grove Township in Hamilton County. She received her education by attending Grant Township 4 and the Hubbard Community School where she graduated with the class of 1931. She remained in Hubbard until she married Carroll Fred Kuhfus on Aug. 7, 1933 at the Salem Evangelical Church in Hubbard. The couple made their home in Ellsworth. She was an accomplished and skilled seamstress. Her pictures are known over the entire state through her years as a contributing member of the Iowa Art Exhibit.

She is survived by her son, Michael and wife Joan, Ellsworth; two granddaughters, Michele Loomis and husband Steve, Winterset, and Staci Kuhfus and Victor Tjarks, Ellsworth; two great-grandchildren, Matthew and Hannah; one sister, Margaret Faust, Iowa Falls; three sisters-in-law, Madeline Hendrickson, San Diego, Calif., Verna Kielsmeier, Iowa Falls, and Margaret Kuhfus, Greenfield; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a sister, June Conaway; and a brother, Dean Hendrickson.

Mrs. Kuhfus was a pianist and organist at Ellsworth United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She also taught Sunday school for many years, and was past president of the Women's Society.
