Walterman Rites Set

Sanders (Sandy) Walterman, 88, longtime resident of the Kamrar community, died at 2:30 p.m. Monday at his home in Kamrar. He had been in failing health for several years.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Presbyterian church east of Kamrar. The Rev. H.F. Sinning of Cedar Falls will officiate and burial will be in the Presbyterian cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Foster funeral home until 10 a.m. Thursday when it will be taken to the church.

Sanders Walterman, son of Hio and Mary Walterman, was born Dec. 11, 1871, in Germany, where he was reared and educated. He was united in marriage there in March, 1892, to Tena Buntje [or Buntjer] and the couple resided in Germany until 1900 when the family came to the United States, locating in the Kamrar community.

He was employed for several years at the elevator in Kamrar, later farming in the Kamrar area. For the past 20 years he had resided in Kamrar.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1929; by one son in infancy; and one son, Hio, who died in the first World War; by one daughter, Johanna; by his parents and one sister.

Mr. Walterman is survived by five daughters and three sons: Mrs. Arthur (Mary) Richardson, Eppo Walterman, Mrs. Fred (Mata) Wilson, Mrs. Helmer (Della) Knutson, all of Webster City; John Walterman, Ledyard; Sandy Walterman of Kamrar; Mrs. Jim (Carrie) Feehan of Burlington and Mrs. Francis (Jessie) Stitt of Waterloo; 29 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; three brothers and three sisters, Mrs. Albert Barnes, Ledyard; Jerry Walterman of Williams; and two brothers and two sisters living in Germany.
