Daily Freeman Journal, Friday, November 9, 1951

Mrs. Verne Van Langen, 40, of Kamrar died at 4:10 p.m. Thursday at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harm Tempel of Kamrar. She had been in poor health for several years but more seriously ill the past year.

Funeral services will be Monday at 1:30 at the Presbyterian church east of Kamrar, preceded by a brief service at 1 o'clock at the family home a mile east of Kamrar. The Rev. August Cramer will officiate with burial being made in the Presbyterian cemetery, Foster's in charge.

Marie Tempel, daughter of Harm and Alice [Olthoff]Tempel, was born Nov. 7, 1911, on a farm near Kamrar. She received her elementary schooling in the rural schools near Kamrar and later attending Kamrar high school.

She was united in marriage August 1, 1929 to Verne Van Langen. They had farmed in Hamilton county near Kamrar since their marriage. She is survived by her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Edward (Rachel) Busing of Stanhope and Mavis Ann at home. Also surviving are her parents, one sister and three brothers: Mrs. Ben (Hannah) Middents of Kamrar, John Tempel of Alden, Lewis Tempel of Webster City and Oriole Tempel of Jewell.

She was baptized in the Presbyterian faith and was a member of the Presbyterian church at Kamrar. She was also a member of the Dorcas society of the church, and was very active in church work as long as her health permitted.

She was a kind and loving wife and mother whose home and family were her main interests in life.
