Funeral services for Verne Van Langen, 61, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian church at Kamrar with the Rev. Marvin L. Camp officiating. Burial will be in the Presbyterian cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Foster Funeral home until 9:30 a.m. Monday when it will be taken to the church.

Mr. Van Langen, a lifelong resident of the Kamrar community, died suddenly Thursday at his farm home, his death being attributed to a heart attack.

Ernest Verne Van Langen, son of Henry and Anna Brinkema Van Langen, was born Aug. 4, 1907, on a farm near Kamrar. He was graduated from Kamrar high school and attended Ellsworth college at Iowa Falls. He later taught schools for several years in the Kamrar vicinity.

He was united in marriage Aug. 1, 1929, to Marie Tempel, and the couple farmed in Hamilton county near Kamrar for many years. For the past two years he had also served as custodian tor the Presbyterian church.

He was preceded in death by his wife Nov. 8, 1951; by his parents and one brother, Andrew Van Langen. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Edward (Rachel) Busing of Stanhope and Mrs. Gary (Mavis Ann) McCormick of Marshalltown; six grandchildren, Delayne, Edward, Jr., Jody and Janis Busing, Jami and John McCormick, and one brother, Melvin Van Langen of Kamrar.

Mr. Van Langen was a member of the Kamrar Presbyterian church and was a former elder of the church. He was a past member of the Hamilton county ASCS and also a past chairman.
