Benhard Van Langen, 77, Kamrar, died Sunday afternoon, Dec 24, at the Hamilton County Hospital, where he had been a patient for two months. He had been in failing health for five and one-half years.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 27, at 1:30 pm at the First Presbyterian Church, east of Kamrar, Rev. Kenneth Ribe and Rev. Keith Orr officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation at the Foster Funeral Home in Webster City will be until 9:30 am Wednesday, when the casket will be taken to the church.

Benhard Van Langen, son of Tom and Hilka Fonken Van Langen, was born Aug 6, 1912, on a farm southeast of Kamrar. He graduated from Kamrar High School in 1930. He married Ethelyn Richardson on Jan 1, 1936, in Kamrar. The couple farmed northeast of Kamrar, retiring in 1979. They continued to reside on the farm.

He is survived by his wife Ethelyn, Kamrar, two sons, Richard Van Langen, Ellsworth, and Leland, Chandler, Ariz ; six grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, two sisters and one brother, Ollie Klaver, Kamrar, George Van Langen and, Stella Mariga, both of Webster City.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.

Mr. Van Langen was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where he served as a trustee, deacon and elder, was former school board director of Liberty Township No 9, and served on the Kamrar Coop Elevator Board.
