Webster City Freeman, Monday, March 27, 1944

HARM TAPPER, AGE 75, DIES

Harm H. Tapper, Sr., 75, widely known Hamilton county farmer, died Friday afternoon at his farm home, eight and one-half miles southeast of Webster City. Death was caused by a heart attack. Mr. Tapper had been in poor health since December but had been much improved of late and his death came unexpectedly.

Harm Harms Tapper, son of John and Hilke Tapper, was born Jan. 21, 1869 at Manslogt, Ostfriesland, Germany, and came to this country with his two sisters in 1884. They located at the farm home of an aunt in Grundy county, where they lived for two years, coming then to Hamilton county. In 1888 his parents also came to this country.

In 1900 Mr. Tapper purchased the farm where he had made his home since. March 13, 1902 he was married to Antje Van Heiden of Grundy county.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and one brother. Surviving are his wife, two sons and four daughters, Mrs. Hilka Luppes of Kamrar, Anna Tapper, Webster City; Jennie Tapper, Denver, Colo. Sye and Harm, of this city, and Mrs. Ella Sherman, formerly of Los Angeles, Cal., now at home. There are also five grandchildren.

The following brothers and sisters also survive: Minnie Tapper of Webster City; Joe H., Buffalo Center; Jake F., this city.

Mr. Tapper was baptized as a small child in Germany and later became a member of the Presbyterian church east of Kamrar.

Active in the affairs of the community, Mr. Tapper was a good neighbor and a kindly man to all who knew him. His main energies always were directed to the interests of his family and his many friends.
