Mrs. Seafka (Leona) Mechaelsen, 71, a lifelong resident of the Kamrar community, died early this morning at Mary Greeley hospital in Ames. She had been a patient there the past three weeks. She had been in ill health the past few months.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. Marvin Camp officiating and with burial in the Presbyterian cemetery near Kamrar.
Harmka Leona Van Langen, daughter of Ben and Minnie Heyer Van Langen, was born May 26, 1901, at Kamrar. She was reared and educated there, but was graduated from Webster City high school.
She was united in marriage March 1, 1923 to Seafka Mechaelsen, and the couple had always farmed in the Kamrar area.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1964.
She is survived by two daughters and two sons, Neva Mechaelsen of Long Beach, Calif., Mrs. Corwin (Doris) Peterson of Minneapolis, Howard Mechaelsen of Stanhope, Raymond Mechaelsen of Kamrar; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. George (Esther) Hassebrock of Jewell and Mrs. Guy (Lena) Hassebrock of Garner.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian church of Kamrar.
