Milton (Mike) Mamminga, 76, Webster City, died Tuesday, Sept 2, 1997 at the Hamilton County Public Hospital. Visitation will be at Foster Funeral home from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Following cremation, memorial services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church, east of Kamrar, with Revs. John Wilson and Craig Bex officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 191.
Milton Millard Mamminga, the son of John and Gepke (Johnson) Mamminga, was born Feb. 25, 1921, on a farm northeast of Kamrar. He attended Kamrar school and graduated in 1938. During World War II, he served with the U.S. Navy as a signalman for four years.
On Dec. 1, 1946, he married Bettimae Arbaugh at Nashua. The couple farmed north and east of Webster City. In 1971, Mr. Mamminga started employment with the Iowa Department of Agriculture as a state meat inspector, residing at Waterloo. He retired in 1985 and moved back to Webster City.
He is survived by: his wife, Bettimae, one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Patricia Mamminga, Des Moines; grandchildren, Matthew, Jason and Adam Mamminga, all of Des Moines; one brother, Carl Mamminga, Kamrar; two sisters, Esther Klaver, Kamrar and Grace Klaver, Webster City; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, three brothers, George, Reinder and John Jr. Mamminga; sisters Lena Olthoff, Jennie Welp, Marie Klaver and three more sisters in infancy.
Mr. Mamminga was a member of First Presbyterian Church and a life member of American Legion Post 191 of Webster City.
