Mildred A. Fonken, 90, of Fort Dodge, died Friday, August 21, 2009 at Trinity Regional Medical Center.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 25, at the Celebration Center of Friendship Haven with the Rev. Anita Johnson officiating. Interment will be in the Presbyterian Cemetery at Kamrar. The visitation is after 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Celebration Center. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Mildred is survived by her daughter Barbara, Friendship Haven; her sister, Marjorie Sinning, Cedar Falls; and other family members and friends.

Mildred Adele Sinning, the daughter of Henry and Bertha (Lubbers) Sinning, was born May 3, 1919, in Grundy Center, Iowa. She graduated from Kamrar High School in 1937 and the University of Dubuque in 1941. On May 25, 1942, Mildred was united in marriage to Lloyd J. Fonken at the Presbyterian Church in Kamrar. The couple served Presbyterian churches in Scales Mound, IL, George, IA, Washington, MO, Muskogee, OK, Pawnee City, NE and then retired to Rogers, AR. Mildred and Lloyd spent their summers on Big Spirit at Spirit Lake.
